About Alice Dreger

Dreger worked as a professor of clinical medical humanities and bioethics at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. She has described her work as social justice work in medicine and science, using history to improve how people born with atypical bodies are treated. Her activism has focused on people born with atypical sex characteristics and on conjoined twins. In Galileo’s Middle Finger, published in 2015, she wrote about the controversy around J. Michael Bailey's 2003 book The Man Who Would Be Queen. She has also founded East Lansing Info, a local news website in Michigan, and has been a featured speaker at TED events.
