About Andrew G. McCabe
McCabe joined the FBI in 1996, starting out as a field agent with the task force that targeted Eurasian organized crime, and later supervised that team. He later led three major parts of the bureau: counterterrorism, the National Security Branch and the Washington Field Office. He was also the founding head of the High-Value Detainee Interrogation Group, which worked on lawful and effective ways to question terror suspects. In May 2017 he became acting Director of the FBI after James Comey was dismissed. He has worked as a CNN contributor since 2019.
