About Benny Lewis
Benny Lewis was born in Cavan, Ireland. He spoke only English until his early twenties. After college he moved to Spain, grew frustrated at not being able to speak Spanish, and chose to drop traditional ways of learning. He now speaks more than twelve languages, and Mandarin Chinese and American Sign Language are among them. He founded the language learning blog Fluent in 3 Months, where he documents his own attempts to learn languages in short spans of time, typically three months. His book Fluent In 3 Months, published by HarperCollins, looks at how adults can learn any language at any age. He has also written the Language Hacking course series, and has published language courses with John Murray Learning. Lewis has presented at two TEDx conferences. In 2013 National Geographic gave him its Traveler of the Year title.
