About Betty Dodson
Betty Dodson (1929 to 2020) trained as an artist and showed erotic art in New York City in 1968. She then moved away from art to become a sex teacher for women. Her first book, Sex for One, sold more than 1 million copies. For more than 30 years she led workshops where groups of women talked, explored their own bodies and masturbated together. In the early 1980s she also presented a show on public-access TV in New York. The Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality gave her its public service honor, and the Society for Sex Therapy and Research gave her the Masters and Johnson award. Cosmopolitan magazine named her one of the top ten sexual revolutionaries. She also partnered with Carlin Ross to create Dodson and Ross, a sexuality portal for women.
