About Claudia M. Gold
Claudia M. Gold, MD, spent more than two decades in general and behavioral pediatrics and now specializes in early relational health. Her studies at the Berkshire Psychoanalytic Institute in the early 2000s introduced her to research on infant mental health, and that changed how she worked with families. She has worked with families affected by the opioid crisis in rural Western Massachusetts. She also sees patients as a clinician at Volunteers in Medicine, Berkshires, where most of the people she serves are immigrants. She teaches and speaks to parents and professionals, and she writes for Psychology Today and on her blog, Child in Mind. Gold is the co-author, with psychologist Ed Tronick, of The Power of Discord. Her other books include Keeping Your Child in Mind, The Silenced Child, The Developmental Science of Early Childhood and, most recently, Getting to Know You. She earned her BA and MD at the University of Chicago.
