About David Dodd

David LeFevre Dodd (1895 to 1988) was born in Berkeley County, West Virginia. He worked as an educator, financial analyst, author, economist and investor. As a young instructor at Columbia, Dodd volunteered to take notes in Benjamin Graham's classes, since Graham would only teach if someone did so. Those notes became the basis for Security Analysis. The book appeared in 1934 and gave momentum to the idea of value investing. No other investment textbook has stayed in print as long.
