About Diane Button

Diane Button was among the founding partners of the Bay Area End-of-Life Doula Alliance in Northern California. She has volunteered in hospice and worked as an end-of-life doula, and she instructs in the University of Vermont's End-of-Life Doula Certificate Program. She was also a board member of the National End-of-Life Doula Alliance. She holds a master's in counseling psychology from Goddard College in Vermont. Her thesis, The Components of a Meaningful Life, was the starting point for her life's work of helping people toward meaning, comfort, joy and peace, whether in living or dying. Her books include Dear Death and, as a co-author, The Doula Tool Kit. Maria Shriver invited her to write What Matters Most: Lessons the Dying Teach Us About Living, which Penguin Random House published. After a breast cancer diagnosis at 48, Diane and her young children founded the nonprofit Dream of a Better World, which supports underserved children and families around the world.
