About Erika H. James
James took up the deanship at Wharton, the business school of the University of Pennsylvania, on July 1, 2020, and was the first woman to lead it. Before that, she was dean of Emory University's Goizueta Business School from 2014 to 2020. She is known for her work on crisis leadership and workplace diversity. She earned her undergraduate degree at Pomona College and her PhD at the University of Michigan. With Lynn Perry Wooten, she wrote The Prepared Leader.
