Ina Garten was born in Brooklyn, New York, and worked in government, on the staff of the Office of Management and Budget, before changing course. Her store, called Barefoot Contessa, was in the Hamptons. From the store she moved into writing many best-selling cookbooks and magazine columns, and into hosting the Food Network show Barefoot Contessa. She has also hosted Be My Guest on Discovery+, and she has won a James Beard Award. Modern Comfort Food is one of her books. Garten and her husband, Jeffrey, make their home in East Hampton, New York.
