About Jessica Bacal

Jessica Bacal directs Reflective and Integrative Practices and the Narratives Project at Smith College in Massachusetts. She also teaches Designing Your Path, a course that asks students what matters to them and which skills they need to pursue it. Her book Mistakes I Made at Work grew out of her work with students and her own steep learning curve after moving into higher education. Earlier in her career she was an elementary school teacher in New York City, followed by work as a curriculum developer and consultant. She studied at Carleton College and Hunter College, where she earned an MFA in writing, and later earned an EdD from the University of Pennsylvania.
