About John Eldredge
Eldredge was born in Los Angeles in 1960 and grew up in its suburbs. He spent boyhood summers on his grandfather's cattle ranch in eastern Oregon. He earned an undergraduate degree in theater from Cal Poly, then spent several years directing a Los Angeles theater company. He then moved to Colorado to work with Focus on the Family, where he taught at its institute. He later earned a master's degree in counseling from Colorado Christian University and worked as a counselor in private practice. He launched Ransomed Heart, a ministry based in Colorado Springs, in 2000. He has also written Waking the Dead and The Sacred Romance. Eldredge is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys fly fishing and bow hunting.
