About Julie Holland

Julie Holland is a psychiatrist who specializes in psychopharmacology and keeps a private practice in New York City. For nine years she ran the psychiatric emergency room at Bellevue Hospital on weekends, and she was an assistant professor of psychiatry at New York University School of Medicine. Her 2009 memoir, Weekends at Bellevue, documents that time and was a bestselling book. Moody Bitches was published by Penguin Press and was her fourth book. It has appeared in eleven languages. Her later book, Good Chemistry, came out from HarperWave in June 2020. Holland also edited Ecstasy and The Pot Book, with proceeds from each going to fund therapeutic studies. She has served as a medical monitor for studies on developing psychedelics into prescription medication.
