About Kathleen Eisenhardt

Kathleen Eisenhardt is a professor at Stanford University, where she co-directs the Stanford Technology Ventures Program. Her book Simple Rules, written with Don Sull, examines why simple approaches can handle complexity in life, business and nature. She also co-wrote Competing on the Edge with Shona Brown, which won the George R. Terry Award. Her research often starts with a dilemma that puzzles many people. For Simple Rules, that dilemma was how to cope with the flood of information and choices in everyday life. She received the Global Award for Entrepreneurship Research in 2012 and was elected a corresponding fellow of the British Academy in 2016. She holds four honorary degrees and has lectured at Oxford in its Clarendon series. She is also known for the Eisenhardt Method, an approach to building theory by comparing cases.
