About Robert Pirsig
Robert Maynard Pirsig was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on 6 September 1928, and died on 24 April 2017. He held degrees in chemistry, philosophy and journalism. He also pursued Oriental philosophy in India, at Benares Hindu University. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance appeared in 1974. He followed it with Lila: An Inquiry into Morals in 1991. In 2022 came On Quality, a collection of selected and unpublished writings, co-authored with his wife and editor, Wendy Pirsig.
