About Sun Tzu
Sun Tzu was a general, strategist, philosopher and writer from China who lived in the Eastern Zhou period. Traditional accounts place him as a minister to King Helü of Wu, with a lifetime of 544 to 496 BC. "Sun Tzu" is an honorific meaning "Master Sun", and his birth name is said to have been Sun Wu. Tradition names him as the author of The Art of War. Whether he existed as described is uncertain, and modern scholars who accept him place the surviving text in the later Warring States period. The book has been used throughout East Asian military history and, since the twentieth century, in the Western world, including in business, governance and sports.
