About Wallace D. Wattles
Wallace Delois Wattles was born in 1860 in the United States and wrote within the New Thought movement. He remains personally little known, though his writing is still in print and often quoted among New Thought and self-help readers. His best known book, The Science of Getting Rich, appeared in 1910. His other titles include Health Through New Thought and Fasting, The Science of Being Great and The Science of Being Well. Wattles urged readers to test his ideas on themselves rather than accept them on his authority. Rhonda Byrne has said that reading The Science of Getting Rich inspired her to create the 2006 film The Secret and its companion book.
