At the University of Chicago, Aja Raden studied ancient history and physics. During those years she led the auction division for House of Kahn, an estate jeweler. She has also been a senior designer for Tacori, a Los Angeles company that makes fine jewelry. Her background combines jewelry-making, science and history. Stoned, her nonfiction book from 2015, explores the social history of gems.
