About bell hooks
bell hooks was born on September 25, 1952, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, and died on December 15, 2021. She took her pen name from her maternal great-grandmother, Bell Blair Hooks, and wrote it in lowercase to keep attention on her ideas rather than on herself. She began teaching in 1976 at the University of Southern California and later taught at Stanford University, Yale University and The City College of New York, among other places. She joined Berea College in Kentucky in 2004 and founded the bell hooks Institute there in 2014. Her books range from essays and poetry to children's literature, and cover love, gender, art, history, sexuality and mass media. Ain’t I a Woman and All About Love are both in the BookBits catalog.
