About Chris Crowley

Younger Next Year was a joint project between Chris Crowley and Henry S. Lodge, a doctor who has since died. The book was a New York Times bestseller, with more than two million copies sold across twenty-three languages. The Younger series now runs to six non-fiction books. One of them, The Younger Next Year Back Book (2018), was co-written with Jeremy James. Crowley also wrote the legal thriller The Practical Navigator, and his work has appeared in periodicals including the New Yorker. Before becoming a writer, Crowley spent twenty-five years as a litigation partner at the Wall Street firm Davis Polk & Wardwell. He also took on a pro bono lawsuit against New York City and argued it in the Supreme Court, aiming to bring more African American and Hispanic officers into the city's police department and to see them promoted. He left the law a little early because he wanted to live more than one life. He and his wife, the portrait artist Hilary Cooper, spent five years in Aspen, where he skied, enjoyed the outdoors and wrote. Crowley was born in Salem, Massachusetts, and spent his childhood in Marblehead and Peabody. He attended Exeter, Harvard College and the University of Virginia Law School. He has three children and six grandchildren. Crowley and Hilary are based in Lakeville, Connecticut and New York City, and they also spend time in Aspen.
