About Daniel L. Schacter
Daniel L. Schacter, born in 1952, holds an endowed professorship in psychology at Harvard University. He studied at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Toronto, where Endel Tulving supervised his doctoral work. His research covers the psychological and biological sides of memory and amnesia, especially the difference between conscious and nonconscious memory. More recently he has looked at how the brain distorts memories and at the link between memory and imagining the future. He has also studied how aging affects memory, using cognitive tests and brain imaging. The American Academy of Arts and Sciences counts him among its fellows. His book in our catalog is The Seven Sins of Memory.
