About Edwin Lefèvre

Edwin Lefèvre (1871–1943) was born in Colón, in what is now Panama, and was sent to the United States as a boy. He trained as a mining engineer at Lehigh University, but he began working as a journalist at nineteen and later also worked as a stockbroker. He wrote on finance for the New York Sun. Under President William Howard Taft, he served as a US ambassador to several countries, including Italy, Spain and France. When that service ended in 1913, he went back to his home in Vermont and took up his literary work again, producing novels as well as stories for periodicals including The Saturday Evening Post. His book Reminiscences of a Stock Operator is in the BookBits catalog.
