Frederik Obermaier was born on 1 March 1984 in Eggenfelden, Germany. He is an investigative journalist who has worked for the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper in Munich. He also co-founded paper trail media, a newsroom in Munich. In 2016 he and his colleague Bastian Obermayer initiated and coordinated the Panama Papers revelations. He is the author of The Panama Papers.
