About Gabriel Zucman
Gabriel Zucman was born in Paris in 1986. Since 2023 he has held a chair at the Paris School of Economics, and he has served as director of the EU Tax Observatory. His research studies how wealth is built up and shared out, with a global and historical view. He is known for estimating how much profit multinational companies shift to low-tax countries. In 2018, that work pointed to Ireland as the biggest corporate tax haven, judged by profit shifting. The Hidden Wealth of Nations: The Scourge of Tax Havens came out in 2015 and has been translated into eighteen languages. Zucman received the Prize for the Best Young Economist in France in 2018 and the John Bates Clark Medal in 2023.
