About Gary A. Haugen
Gary A. Haugen founded International Justice Mission (IJM) in 1999. The organization works alongside local authorities in developing countries to protect poor people from violence, including by helping rescue victims and supporting survivors. Earlier in his career, he worked for the Justice Department's civil rights division in the US and led the United Nations investigation in Rwanda after the genocide there. The US State Department has named him a Trafficking in Persons "Hero". He studied at Harvard University and earned a law degree from the University of Chicago. He has written several books, including The Locust Effect and Good News About Injustice.
