About Gary Stevenson
Gary Stevenson was born in Ilford, London. His university years at the London School of Economics were spent on mathematics and economics. He began work as a trader at Citibank in 2008, aged 21. In 2014 he left trading to study economics at the University of Oxford. In 2020 he started the YouTube channel GarysEconomics, which explains economic ideas to a wide audience and argues against inequality. He has taken part in debates on inequality through outlets including The Guardian, the BBC and LBC. Penguin Books published his memoir The Trading Game in 2024, about his years working in finance.
