His first book, Poisoned Arrows (1989), looked at human rights issues in West Papua. Several books carry his name, among them Captive State and The Age of Consent, and he contributes to The Guardian on a regular basis. In Feral (2013), he discussed rewilding and argued for its expansion. Monbiot has been involved in activism on climate change, British politics and loneliness.
