About Helen Fisher

Helen Fisher (1945 to 2024) was an American biological anthropologist and author who studied human behavior, with a focus on romantic love. She was a senior research fellow at The Kinsey Institute and belonged to the Center For Human Evolutionary Studies at Rutgers University. Earlier, she worked in New York City at the American Museum of Natural History as a research associate. She co-authored the first brain-scan study (using MRI, or magnetic resonance imaging) to tie early romantic love to specific brain regions. In 2005 she helped build the matching system behind chemistry.com, and she spoke at the TED conference in 2006 and 2008. Why We Love is the book of hers in our catalog.
