About James Kouzes
Jim Kouzes was one of a dozen Eagle Scouts chosen to serve in John F. Kennedy's honor guard at his inauguration. Inspired by Kennedy's call to service, he joined the Peace Corps and taught school in Turkey for two years. Back in the US, he began by training community action agency managers, and he has worked in leadership development ever since. With Barry Posner, he wrote The Leadership Challenge, which has more than 3 million copies in print. The pair also coauthored A Leader's Legacy, Encouraging the Heart, The Truth About Leadership, and Credibility, and they developed the Leadership Practices Inventory, a leadership assessment. Kouzes holds a fellowship at Rice University's Doerr Institute for New Leaders. He has also served as Dean's Executive Fellow of Leadership at the Leavey School of Business, Santa Clara University. Toastmasters International presented him with its Golden Gavel, and The Wall Street Journal listed him among twelve top executive educators in the US.
