About Johan Rockstrom

Johan Rockström was born in 1965 and is a professor of Earth system science at the University of Potsdam. He also holds a professorship in water systems and global sustainability at Stockholm University, and he is chief scientist at Conservation International. His research helped develop the planetary boundaries framework, which was first published in 2009. It sets out nine boundaries, from climate to biodiversity, that are argued to define a safe operating space for humanity. Earlier in his career he was executive director of the Stockholm Environment Institute from 2004 to 2012, and he directed the Stockholm Resilience Centre from 2007 to 2018. His book in our catalog is Earth for All.
