About Joseph Goldstein
Joseph Goldstein was born in New York in 1944 and was among the first Americans to teach Vipassana. With Jack Kornfield and Sharon Salzberg, he co-founded the Insight Meditation Society (IMS), where he has served as a resident guiding teacher. He has led retreats around the world on insight meditation and lovingkindness meditation. Goldstein has written many books that introduce Buddhist ideas and practices to Western readers, including Mindfulness, A Heart Full of Peace and One Dharma. One Dharma, published in 2002, explores how the Theravada, Tibetan and Zen traditions might fit into a single framework. He has spent more than fifty years teaching Vipassana to Western audiences.
