About Joshua Greene

Greene was born in 1974 and studied philosophy at Harvard and Princeton universities. He is a professor of psychology at Harvard, where he directs the Moral Cognition Lab and belongs to the Center for Brain Science faculty. Much of his research has looked at moral judgment and decision-making, especially how emotion and reasoning interact in dilemmas such as trolley problems. His more recent work explores ways to reduce conflict between groups and encourage effective giving, and how the brain combines concepts into complex thoughts. Moral Tribes is his book in our catalog.
