About Kate Bowler
Kate Bowler is from Winnipeg, Manitoba, and teaches at Duke Divinity School. She lives in Durham, North Carolina, with her family. Her doctoral dissertation inspired her debut, Blessed: A History of the American Prosperity Gospel. At age 35 she was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer, and she went on to write the memoir Everything Happens for a Reason (and Other Lies I've Loved). No Cure for Being Human looks at her diagnosis, her ambition and her faith, and at accepting limits in a culture that says anything is possible. Have a Beautiful, Terrible Day! is a book of daily meditations, with short reflections and practical steps for good, bad or ordinary days. She also hosts the Everything Happens podcast, where guests such as Malcolm Gladwell and Anne Lamott talk about what they learned during hard times.
