Marc Levinson is an independent historian, economist and author. He has written a great deal about business, economics, regulation and international trade. The Box is one of his books. He worked as a journalist for many years, and at The Economist he was finance and economics editor. Later he was an economist at JP Morgan Chase, led a staff at the Congressional Research Service that advised Congress on transportation and industry matters, and was a senior fellow for international business with the Council on Foreign Relations.
