About Marshall B. Rosenberg
Marshall B. Rosenberg (1934-2015) was an American psychologist, mediator, author and teacher. He began developing nonviolent communication in the early 1960s, shaped in part by the Detroit race riot of 1943 and by the antisemitism he met in his early life. In 1984 he founded the Center for Nonviolent Communication, an international nonprofit, and served as its Director of Educational Services. He worked as a peacemaker around the world and started peace programs in places including Rwanda, Burundi, Sri Lanka and Serbia. He wrote 15 books, among them Nonviolent Communication, which has sold more than one million copies.
