About Moira Weigel
Moira Weigel trained in modern languages, including German and Mandarin Chinese. She later earned a PhD at Yale University in a joint program covering comparative literature and film and media. Her research looks at digital media in a global context, with a secondary interest in feminism, gender and sexuality. Her first book, Labor of Love (2016), argues that dating has changed alongside consumer capitalism and gendered work, rather than dying because of phones and social media. The book has been translated into five languages. Weigel is also a cofounder of Logic magazine and Logic Books. She co-edited Voices from the Valley (2020), which gathers interviews with anonymous tech industry workers in the Bay Area.
