About Najwa Zebian

Najwa Zebian was born in 1990 and moved to Canada at sixteen, a time when she felt unsettled in an unfamiliar place. She went on to become a teacher and a doctoral candidate in educational leadership. Working with her first students, a group of young refugees, brought her back to writing, and she found that writing for them also helped her heal. She self-published her first book of poetry and prose in 2016. Her work draws on her own experiences of displacement, discrimination and abuse, and Welcome Home is among her books. She has also launched a digital school called Soul Academy and a podcast, Stories of the Soul.
