About Paul Gustavson

Paul Gustavson was born in a small town in southwest Utah and grew up in Overland Park, Kansas. He has made Northern California his home for 35 years. He works as an author, board member, advisor, speaker and consultant. At BYU (Brigham Young University) he was a walk-on letterman under coach LaVell Edwards. In the early 1970s he began studying high performance teams and the design of work systems that build high commitment. He holds that an organization produces exactly the results its design is built to produce, and he writes about strategies, processes and designs for better workplaces, homes and communities. He has served for over 20 years on an advisory board at the Marriott School of Management, including eight years as chair. He received the school's William G. Dyer Distinguished Alumni Award in 1999 and the Herrmann International Big Thinker Award in 2004. With Stewart Liff he co-wrote A Team of Leaders, which Soundview Executive Book Summaries voted into its top 30 business titles of 2014. He also co-wrote Running into the Wind with Alyson Von Feldt in 2012 and The Power of Living by Design with Tom Ward in 2013.
