About Plato

Plato was a philosopher of Classical Athens. He studied under Socrates and went on to teach Aristotle. He founded the Academy, a school in Athens where his teaching developed into what later became known as Platonism. He wrote in the form of dialogues, and he is best known for the Theory of Forms. His complete works are believed to have survived, which is unusual among his contemporaries, and readers have studied them through the centuries. Our catalog includes Phaedo, The Republic and The Symposium.
