About Russ Buettner
Russ Buettner is an American investigative journalist who reports for The New York Times. He attended California State University, Sacramento, contributing to its student newspaper, and later went on to the Missouri School of Journalism. He has reported from the New York City area since 1992, and worked at the New York Daily News and New York Newsday before joining the Times in 2006. Much of his reporting has centered on Donald Trump's personal finances. He and two colleagues earned a 2019 Pulitzer Prize in explanatory reporting for a set of articles published in 2018 on that topic, and the same trio also received the George Polk Award for Political Reporting. In 2020 the team obtained decades of Trump's tax records and reported on what they showed. His book in our catalog is Lucky Loser.
