About Stanislas Dehaene
Dehaene has held a professorship in Experimental Cognitive Psychology at the Collège de France in Paris. He has led a brain imaging research unit at NeuroSpin in Saclay, south of Paris, and has presided over the Scientific Council for Education of France's ministry of education. His research on the number sense looks at the brain circuits that help people grasp numbers. He also worked out what the visual word form area does: it sits in the left side of the brain and becomes tuned to letters as people learn to read. In 2014 he shared the Brain Prize with Giacomo Rizzolatti and Trevor Robbins. His books include The Number Sense, Reading in the Brain and How We Learn, which came out in 2020.
