About Suzanne O'Sullivan

Suzanne O'Sullivan was born in Dublin and works as a neurologist in London, at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. She had wanted to be a writer since childhood but only began writing in her forties. Her books draw on cases from her neurology practice, with the details disguised. Her first book, It's All in Your Head, appeared in 2015 and won the 2016 Wellcome Book Prize and the Royal Society of Biology General Book Prize. She has since written Brainstorm, about epilepsy, and The Sleeping Beauties, about mass psychogenic illness. The Age of Diagnosis turns to medical overdiagnosis. It tells the stories of people who have both gained from and struggled with what modern diagnosis offers.
