About The Patriotic Millionaires
The group formed in 2010 as a protest against President Obama's backing of an extension of the Bush tax cuts for incomes above $1 million. It works to change the public conversation on taxes, wages and political equality, and also does advocacy and lobbying. Members have held private meetings with hundreds of elected leaders from both parties and have given testimony to lawmakers at local, state and federal levels. Morris Pearl chairs the group. He worked as a Managing Director at BlackRock and left in 2014 to work with the organization full-time. Members include investors, business owners, executives, lawyers, inheritors, filmmakers and authors, among them Abigail Disney and George Zimmer. The New Press brought out the group's book Pay the People! in December 2024, written by two of its members. In 2025 the group also unveiled a legislative platform called The MONEY Agenda.
