About Wayne W. Dyer
Wayne Walter Dyer was born in Detroit, Michigan, on May 10, 1940, and died on August 29, 2015. He earned his bachelor's, master's and Ed.D. degrees at Wayne State University, with the doctorate in guidance and counseling. He worked as a high school guidance counselor, ran a private therapy practice, and later taught counselor education at St. John's University. A literary agent approached him there, which led to his first book, Your Erroneous Zones (1976). His early writing dealt with motivation, self-actualization and assertiveness. By the 1990s he had turned toward spirituality, promoting ideas such as the power of intention, and he worked with Deepak Chopra on a number of projects. The Power of Intention was a New York Times best seller. Dyer also made specials for PBS (the US Public Broadcasting Service), and he appeared often as a guest on Oprah Winfrey's television show.
