Carol Duhurst Leonnig is an American investigative journalist. She joined The Washington Post as a staff writer in 2000 and stayed until 2025. In 2014 she shared the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service, awarded to a group of national security reporters for exposing how the National Security Agency (NSA) had widened its surveillance of Americans. She later won Pulitzer Prizes in the National Reporting category, in 2015 and in 2018. Over her career she has covered four presidential administrations, and her reporting has brought to light misconduct by politicians as well as government corruption, abuse and incompetence.
