About Dave Evans

Dave Evans began at Stanford in the 1970s hoping to become a marine biologist, then switched to mechanical engineering. He later worked at Apple, where he led the mouse team and helped bring laser printing to a wide audience. He then joined Electronic Arts as its first VP of Talent. After helping shape company cultures at Apple and Electronic Arts, Dave went independent to help organizations build creative workplaces. Many of the people he worked with kept asking what they should do with their lives. That work led him to Stanford, where he co-founded the Stanford Life Design Lab in the Stanford Design Program. With his partner Bill Burnett, Dave turned their Stanford course into the New York Times #1 bestseller Designing Your Life, released in 2016. The pair followed it with Designing Your Work Life in 2020. Dave earned both a bachelor's and a master's degree in mechanical engineering at Stanford.
