About Daymond John
Daymond John grew up in Hollis, Queens, in New York City. He began by sewing tie-top hats for himself and his friends, using skills he learned from his mother, and sold a batch on the streets of Queens. With friends from his neighborhood he went on to launch FUBU, short for "For Us By Us", a clothing line inspired by the hip-hop community around him. He joined the cast of Shark Tank in 2009, where he invests in the businesses of entrepreneurs. His books include Display of Power and The Brand Within, and our catalog features Powershift and The Power of Broke.
