About Gaia Vince

Gaia Vince is a freelance journalist and broadcaster who focuses on the environment, and she also writes non-fiction books. She holds British and Australian citizenship. She studied chemistry and writes for The Guardian. Earlier in her career she held editing roles at Nature (news) and New Scientist (online). Her first book, Adventures in the Anthropocene, won the 2015 Royal Society Winton Prize for Science Books, and she was the first woman to take that award outright. Transcendence, published in 2019, is about human cultural evolution. In Nomad Century, released in 2022, she argues that global heating will push billions of people to migrate, and that good policies can make this work for both migrants and host countries. Vince also wrote and presented the Channel 4 series Escape to Costa Rica. She has hosted some episodes of Inside Science on BBC Radio 4.
