About Giulia Enders
Giulia Enders was born in 1990 in Mannheim, Germany. She has done doctoral work at the Institute for Microbiology in Frankfurt. In 2012 she won first prize at science slam competitions with a talk on the gut called Darm mit Charme (Charming Bowels). The talk led to an offer to write a book on the subject, which became Gut. German readers have bought over two million copies, and an English edition appeared in 2015 alongside several other translations. Her older sister, Jill Enders, made the drawings for the book.
