About Jason Fung
Jason Fung is a Canadian nephrologist (kidney doctor) born in 1973. He studied medicine at the University of Toronto, completed a nephrology fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles, and went on to practise in Toronto. While treating patients whose type 2 diabetes had damaged their kidneys, he noticed a link between insulin medication and weight gain. This led him to intermittent fasting and a low-carbohydrate diet, which he has prescribed to patients. He also co-founded The Fasting Method, a program for weight loss and type 2 diabetes. His 2016 book The Obesity Code went on to sell over 2 million copies worldwide. The Diabetes Code sets out his approach to preventing and reversing type 2 diabetes. He is a New York Times-bestselling author who has also written articles for newspapers and magazines.
