About Pico Iyer

Born in Oxford, England, to parents from India, Pico Iyer grew up in California and studied at Eton, Oxford and Harvard. Since 1987 he has been based in western Japan, and his travels have taken him to places such as Bhutan, Easter Island and North Korea. His work has appeared in The New York Times and Time, as well as Harper's and The New York Review of Books. He has also written screenplays, librettos and liner notes for Leonard Cohen, and gave three TED talks between 2013 and 2016. His recent writing asks how travel can help people regain stillness and focus when devices keep pulling at their attention. Our catalog includes Aflame and The Half Known Life.
